Take another look at the Sample Grading Sheets PDF.  These grading sheets provide a broad sample of potential grading styles, and each type of assessment could be successfully utilized in appropriate settings. 

Find two of the grading methods presented in the PDF that you think would be most appropriate for your course.  Highlight their strengths, determine the types of learning goals that they could measure, and point out any potential weaknesses or problems that you see. 

Next, rewrite these grading sheets for your courses.  Try to fix any potential problems, and be sure to focus on the learning goals that you have developed. 

Finally, compare these new grading methods with what you currently use.  Are there areas of overlap?  Are there radical departures?  Use this comparison to revise or rewrite your own grading sheets, and try to make them as learning-focused as possible.
